Managing Change for Libraries When Technology Changes

Sarah Andrews.

Libraries now integrate technology into all services, and library employees must cope with rapid and frequently changing technology. This presentation will help library managers better prepare for technological change. Libraries may need to remove hierarchies to allow for rapid change. Staff stress and training needs should be addressed. Increased communication becomes necessary because of the interdependence on technology. Managers should expect performance declines at first when technology changes.
