Personal Web Sites as a Platform for Knowledge Sharing

Al-Hawamdeh Suliman, Ho Tuong Van.

Increasingly academicians and researchers are publishing information on their personal web sites with the objectives of sharing information and publicizing their work. Such a platform is ideal for knowledge sharing and in return bypassing the traditional mediums such as libraries and information centers. Information posted on the personal website includes published research work, expertise, consultancy information and in many cases educational material. Contact information posted on the personal websites enables researcher to get in touch with each other and in many cases leads to collaboration and knowledge transfer. In this paper, we look at the design issues of personal websites and their role in promoting knowledge sharing and knowledge transfer.
