The Fourth International Conference on Knowledge, Culture and Change in Organisations

Dot Zen: Ethical and Compassionate Leadership: Wisdom from the Diamond Sutra for Entrepreneurs and Businesses

Dr Seamus Phan.

Many commercial organizations have been forced into unhealthy competition by over-zealous stakeholders, creating quarterly-driven financial reporting, unrealistic sales projections, and ultimately, crippled organizations with many financial issues and even resulting in fraud. The key trouble with modern organizations tend to be an exaltation to war cries such as Sun Tzu's "The Art of War".
Dot ZEN is inspired by the Buddhist Diamond Sutra (Vajra Prajnaparamita Sutra), where cooperation is the key to survival and success, and non-aggressive philosophy and wisdom is advocated for running business ventures and organizations. The culture can be easily adapted throughout any organization, and can be used for major business functions such as sales, marketing, corporate communications, public relations, branding, human resource management, and even technology and Internet management. The fundamental thread to business leadership is defined by ethics and compassion.
